The FrameRack is my version of the alternative rack solution for the Brompton.

Features:

  • Fits all ACP and G line including old Bromptons that did not use this naming convention. Does not fit T line but I made a specific version for the T line here.
  • 200mm x 100mm x 9mm. Long enough for use as a stable platform but still short enough for room to lift the bike by the top tube.
  • Standard version weight is around 80g, the material is PETG which has more colour options.
  • Ultralight version weight is around 55g, the material is ASA which has more limited options (mainly black and white)
  • Both version are strong enough for tents and bags you might want to strap on the frame. ASA just fewer colour options and it is a less dense material. Great option for weight weenies like myself!
  • Custom colour available for an extra charge.
  • 3D Printed TPU straps included (black or clear colour, but custom colours available upon request).
  • T line version available here.

Customization options (for an additional fee):

  • Colour. A translucent red would look great on a red lacquer Brompton! Note that some colours are only available in some types of material, see below.
  • Dimensions. I can modify the length and width.
  • Etching, names, etc. The surface can be modified to include writing or design subject to certain printing constraints.

Inspired by Eerder Metaal's "Framehugger" and the VeloSolo (now distributed by Bikegang) "Platform B". The Framehugger and Platform B have the advantage of the metal U bolt mounting method which allows a much tighter grip on the Brompton Toptube. This allows these alternatives to carry more weight without the platform tipping to the side. But these alternatives are also relatively heavy at around 280g. The FrameRack weighs around 90g, and the straps could be as light as a few grams by repurposing inner tubes, or the weight of removable TPU straps of your choice. The practical weight-weenie in me loves the additional functionality that the FrameRack adds to the Brompton. Version Control:

  • V1: Had more geometry underneath to allow additional mounting points.
  • V2 (current): Removed the bottom geometry to simplify the design, removed the extra mounting points, added channel on the top surface so straps are more flush to the top of the FrameRack. Hole size and spacing remain the same as V1.
