The Framehugger and Platform B have the advantage of the metal U bolt mounting method which allows a much tighter grip on the Brompton Toptube. This allows these alternatives to carry more weight without the platform tipping to the side. But these alternatives are also relatively heavy at around 280g. The FrameRack weighs around 90g, and the straps could be as light as a few grams by repurposing inner tubes, or the weight of removable TPU straps of your choice. The practical weight-weenie in me loves the additional functionality that the FrameRack adds to the Brompton. There are many models out there but I have never been satisfied with the thickness it adds to the bottle cage mount which doesn't look great and makes the AirTag stand out. The other solution is mounting the AirTag elsewhere but the bottle cage area is nice because it requires some effort to remove. I decided to design this slim mount which has a few compromises:\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003col\u003e\n\u003cli\u003e\n\u003cstrong\u003eThe AirTag is mounted without the battery cap\u003c\/strong\u003e. This is what allows this mount to be so thin. You will lose the water resistant rating on the AirTag. It is a tight pressure fit for the battery side so the AirTag\/mount is still water resistant enough for riding in the rain, just don't blast it with a pressure washer.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eThe top is exposed. This probably only shaves a fraction of a mm off the mount but you still get to see the cool etching you got if you ordered it from the Apple Store ;) Some might think this makes the AirTag very obvious to thieves, but you can always flip it upside down. Also, if the thief actually sees the AirTag, it might actually have a deterrent effect.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eNote that you can also flip the airtag around with the silver side facing outwards and it will work with the cap on. Does not come with M5 bolts, you might need slightly longer ones if you are putting it under an existing bottle cage. Also, I realized that technically you could make a mount with a lower profile by making wings on either end thinner and the centre bulge out more but that geometry would make printing a lot more difficult and there could be fit issues with certain bottle holders. There is a choice between PETG and PLA. PLA has many more options for colour and finish (ie. matte vs glossy). PETG only comes in glossy but has a translucent option. PLA is less heat and UV resistant. You can either adjust the tilt of the handlebar or the knob that adjusts the width of the fold.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eTo adjust the handlebar, loosen the 6mm bolt that secures the handlebar and tilt the bar back (towards the rider). This modifies the riding position so it is recommended you make note if it affects your riding comfort. If your riding comfort requires tilting the bars forward, you can try adjusting the folding knob, see below.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eTo adjust the fold adjustment knob, turn it left (counter clockwise) to allow more space between the wheel and the handlebar extender. The knob can be difficult to rotate, I recommend you use pliers to grip it. The amount of adjustment depends on how far your handlebar is tilted forward. If your bar is tilted very far forward, there might not be enough adjustment room to fit the handlebar extender without adjusting the handlebar angle. I have designed channels in my adapter to insert parts with the layer lines orienting a different direction. These channels cross over points of failure that I have seen in other adapters and will prevent cracks from forming over time or catastrophic part breakage.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eFurthermore, the Ortlieb Ultimate Six Classic, which I have been using this adapter for, is only rated for 5kg.
